| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to propose autonomous learning support for university students based on the process of change in their motivation for out-of-class learning. First, we developed a scale to measure motivation for out-of-class learning, and confirmed that autonomous motivation based on interest, enjoyment, importance, and usefulness promotes learning engagement and positive emotions during out-of-class learning. Next, an intra-individual process was shown in which increased autonomous motivation for out-of-class learning decreases autonomy need satisfaction. Finally, based on the research findings that valuing class content promotes autonomous motivation, a class intervention that emphasized the value of the learning content was conducted; however, motivation was not promoted, and future research is needed to consider the intervention method and the characteristics of the targeted classes.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究では、縦断的な調査に基づいて、授業外学習の動機づけと他の変数との関連を検討した。これにより、従来の研究とは異なり、変数の変化同士の関連の検討や、変数間の因果関係の検討を行うことができた。特に、授業外学習の動機づけの変化と心理的欲求充足の変化の関連を個人内プロセスに基づいて検討した結果、個人間関連に基づく研究結果とは真逆の結果が得られた。このような新しい発見は、動機づけ研究の発展に貢献するという意味で学術的な意義をもつ。また、変数間の因果関係を明らかすることで、教育場面におけるより妥当で効果的な学習支援の提案が可能となるため、社会的な意義も大きいと考えられる。
