Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
We had difficulties in getting all the researchers together due the conflict schedules. And therefore our project workshop in the UK was held in May 2023, even though we planned it to be held in March 2022.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
We are planning to have focused group interviews and semi-structured interviews: (1) Focussed group interviews and semi-structured interviews in Japan will be conducted by Professor Cooray and Professor Jayasinghe when he visits Japan in September 2023. (2) Professor Cooray and Professor Marambe will conduct focused group and semi-structured interviews in Sri Lanka in July and August 2023. We selected the following districts Anuradhapura, Ampara, Vavuniya and Hambantota to cover the dry zone, while Kurunegala was selected to cover intermediate zones. We focus on traditional and modern paddy cultivation, considering soil & water management, biodiversity, use of agrochemicals, integrated pest management, ingenious methods, etc. We also plan to publish an edited volume and some journal articles.
