Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Based on our research plan and objectives, we have successfully completed an epidemiological study to understand the prevalence of anemia, including its influencing factors in 2022. Afterward, we conducted an eHealth intervention study to improve knowledge, attitude, and practices among adolescent girls to reduce school-going adolescent girls' anemia rates in rural Bangladesh. As of now, we have accomplished two thirds of our research activities. We have submitted a research protocol paper to an international journal for publication. We have prepared another research paper based on this epidemiological study results for submission to an international journal. We also attended five international conferences and shared our research findings.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.
Reason
As the stress and burden of the COVID-19 pandemic reduced in the study field, it was easy to implement smoothly, which was difficult at the beginning of this research project. By this time, it is well explained and communicated with the related officials, professionals, communities, and research team members. We were also able to explain to the study participants the importance of this research, and they became motivated. These are the main reasons for implementing this research activity smoothly.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The next step of our ongoing research activities aims to assess the impact of mHealth education on menstrual knowledge and hygiene practices among school-going adolescent girls in rural Bangladesh in 2023. We will conduct a baseline survey, followed by 6 months of health education on menstrual hygiene management delivered through mobile phone calls for about 5-7 minutes and SMS to all enrolled participants by community health workers. At the end of the 6th month, we will collect endline data using the same questionnaire used for the baseline data collection. We will prepare our research findings for the next submission to international journals and conferences upon completing these activities.
|
Causes of Carryover |
In 2022, the amount remained because we reduced a community health worker's remuneration at the end of this year as we have limited funds to complete the next step of field research activities to collect the data, field staff's remuneration, transportation, and support the international journal processing fee.
