Outline of Annual Research Achievements

In this phase, we significantly expanded our data collection efforts by integrating three additional testbeds, each with unique characteristics in terms of size, equipment, and participant demographics. This enabled us to develop and refine several advanced localization models, utilizing a variety of modalities such as RTT, RSSI, and CSI. These models significantly enhance the accuracy and reliability of our system. A critical achievement this year was establishing a robust proof of concept, which confirmed the feasibility of our system operating effectively across diverse building environments and network configurations. We further showcased our progress through demonstrations that highlighted our system's advanced capabilities and practical impacts.
To ensure broad dissemination of our findings, we authored and presented/published over 20 research papers at both national and international conferences and in journals. Our work has received considerable recognition in the academic community, as evidenced by several prestigious awards, including the SRC Sigspatial 2023 award, MBL Best Paper Award 2023, Best Poster Award at Sigspatial 2023, and the IEEE Japan Medal.
Moreover, we initiated collaborations with leading international researchers, which have opened new avenues for innovative research directions. These partnerships have already begun to yield fruitful interactions, enhancing our project's scope significantly. We are particularly focused on sustainability and privacy-preserving computing, crucial for advancing technologies in a socially responsible manner.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.

Reason

-Increased Familiarity with Subject Matter: Our growing expertise in the subject matter has significantly enhanced our efficiency in problem-solving and innovation.
-Effective Project Management: We have implemented strong project management strategies, including setting clear goals, establishing well-defined milestones, and efficiently allocating resources.
-Collaboration: Our team's collaboration with esteemed peers within our institution and top world-class researchers has greatly improved our productivity and problem-solving capabilities, accelerating our progress.
-Additional Resources: The hiring of Research Assistants (RAs) has expedited our data collection process, further contributing to our project's rapid advancement.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

In this phase, we successfully collected necessary data and developed the prototype system. Further, we wrote several conference papers that have been accepted. Moving forward, we plan to rigorously test the system under various conditions to evaluate its robustness and effectiveness. Concurrently, we aim to prepare detailed journal papers to document our methodologies and results comprehensively. We also plan to increase our outreach by presenting our work at upcoming national and international conferences, facilitating broader engagement and collaboration within the scientific community.

Causes of Carryover

In the previous fiscal year, allocated funds for attending the Percom conference in France remained unused due to scheduling conflicts. This year, we plan to utilize these funds to cover travel expenses for participating in several key conferences. Additionally, the funds will support travel costs associated with conducting face-to-face discussion meetings with collaborators. These activities are crucial for disseminating our research findings, engaging with the international research community, and fostering collaborative relationships that are vital for the advancement of our project.
