Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
A review of literature was conducted related to selected unconventional wind energy technologies. Among the technologies reviewed, airborne wind energy systems were identified as a main target of the analysis. These systems have a comprehensive description in the scientific literature, and have advantages over conventional wind turbines (grounded horizontal axis) in terms of operational height, reduced material inputs, and capability to operate at high wind speeds. The framework of research was established, by describing the factors of the wind resource assessment that can be improved with the introduction of unconventional wind energy technologies. Also, the possible impacts of introducing unconventional wind energy technologies were identified. The main data that will be used as input has been identified.
