| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the previous year, I completed the data analysis with an expected way. I found that there were some unexpected but interesting points in the data, which could contribute to understanding Japanese L2 laerners of English better. Therefore, I started to analyze the data with a different way. In order to do this, I hired a research assistant who focused on accuracy of the participants' responses. I have now been working on writing up a research paper with the first results; in addition, I have been organizing the data that the research assistant sorted to analyze the data differently.

Reason
As mentioned above, I found something interesting points in the data. Therefore, I was planning to add additional results in the final research paper. Although time schedule would be quite delayed, I believe the entire results could be more valuable to comprehend Japanese second language (L2) learners' language development in L2

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I am planning to finalize the second part of the data analysis. In addition, I am planning to either add another research question in the original final research paper with the results of the data analysis or create a new research paper with them. Before then, I am planning to give a paper presentation about the research at some international conferences to receive constructive feedback from researchers in the field of second language acquisition.

| Causes of Carryover |
I canceled a conference trip due to my health issue. In addition, unlike my original plan, I have not needed to purchase some consumable items again. These are the reasons why I could not use up the fund that I expected to spend last year.
If needed, I am planning to collect additional data to strenthen my arguments. In addition, with the fund, I am planning to give a paper presentation at some international conferences. Finally, I am planning to renew the computer programs that I purchased before.
