Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I have investigated a new application of WIST to predict concrete's carbonation resistance using the total sprayed water at a moisture content of 5% (rW5). The newly proposed rW5 index emerged as an effective tool for assessing concrete's carbonation resistance. Based on the results obtained, two drafts and reports for two international conferences have almost been finished. In addition, I have started investigating the application of WIST on horizontal surfaces and establishing a novel model predicting carbonation rate based on WIST results. I reported the results at ICCEE 2023 as a keynote speaker.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Based on careful preparations, the project is launching rather smoothly. Numerous results were obtained and analyzed. SCI publications and reports at international conferences have been prepared.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I will finalise the two drafts and send them to an English editing service before submitting them to the journals. In addition, additional data will be collected to check the prediction model. I will attend three international conferences to report the results.
|
Causes of Carryover |
The analysis of the acquired results and the compilation of drafts and reports exceed the planned time. Thus, ISI journals and conferences will not be completed within the fiscal year 2023 and will instead be postponed to the fiscal year 2024. Consequently, the budget has deviated from the initial estimation and has not been fully utilized. The remaining budget will be allocated towards conducting additional experimental measures, covering publishing fees, transportation expenses, and accommodation expenses for in-situ measurements and international conferences during the fiscal year 2024.
