Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the first year of the project, I have been focusing on desktop studies for the project. Mainly two parts of work are done. 1. the background and literature review. Specifically I have reviewed the two countries' major trading partners of agriculture and food products and have identified the key and common products and partners of both countries. Thorough research has been done for both through literature review. 2. data work. I have collected the Chinese port rejection data, enlarging the dataset from 2 digits to 6 digits and tried to merge them with customer trading data.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
In the past year, I was able to stick to the original plan and mainly conducted desktop work without many business trips or external communication. Hence, the schedules have been under control and progressing as planned. A little bit more time was consumed on data collecting part which is unexpected. But I should be able to catch the time back in the coming year.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In the coming year, work will continue corresponding to last year's two parts. 1. background and literature part. Since key products and trade partners have been identified for both China and the U.S., I will further explore those information through real cases to broaden and deepen current literature. Field investigation is expected to come in from the coming year on. 2. data part. I will work on the port rejection and customer trading data of the U.S. market in the coming year. Hopefully could pile the two countries' data together for the next step analysis.

Causes of Carryover |
Since I have not done much field investigation via in person business travel or attending conferences overseas in the past year, original planned budget has left partially. Since international travels have been resumed globally, I will have more international business trip and use the remaining money in the coming year together with the new coming budget.
