Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Yorkie(Yki)-activated cells stimulates cell proliferation and survival, as well as non-autonomous induction of cell death in surrounding cells in Drosophila epithelium, which is called 'super-competition'. Previously, we found that Yki-activated cells activate TOR signaling via microRNA bantam, which is required for cell death in surrounding wild-type cells. Importantly, bantam-overexpressing cells is sufficient to cause super-competition, while TOR activation is not sufficient. In this study, we dissected the mechanism by which bantam induces cell death in wild-type cells.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
