Outline of Final Research Achievements

In an animal model using cardiopulmonary bypass and one-lung ventilation, an increase in inflammatory cytokines, neutrophil counts, and apoptotic cell counts was observed in collapsed lungs, along with worsening pulmonary edema and oxygenation impairment. Inhalation of nitric oxide during reperfusion reduced levels of certain inflammatory cytokines, neutrophil counts, and apoptotic cell numbers in collapsed lungs, thereby improving pulmonary edema and oxygenation.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
