Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The importance of glycolysis in the differentiation of odontoblasts, which are responsible for reparative dentin formation, is unclear. In this study, we applied stimulation to mouse teeth and analyzed the role of glycolysis in the formation of reparative dentin induced by this stimulation. As a result, we confirmed that glycolytic enzymes were highly expressed in odontoblasts, which form reparative dentin after trauma, and that angiogenesis was also increased at the same time. We also confirmed that when reparative dentin formation was induced by administering a glycolytic enzyme inhibitor, the formation of reparative dentin was suppressed with a decrease in odontoblasts. These results suggest that glycolysis and the subsequent energy metabolic pathway play an important role in reparative dentin formation.
