Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aimed to clarify the relationship between vitamin K sufficiency and mandible in patients undergoing implant treatment, and further to examine the effects of vitamin K administration in animal experiments, thereby investigating the effectiveness of a nutritional approach using vitamin K for dental implant treatment. First, we examined the relationship between vitamin K sufficiency (blood ucOC concentration) and mandible in patients before implant surgery, revealing a negative correlation between blood ucOC concentration and mandibular cortical bone width. Furthermore, in animal experiments, cortical bone width tended to increase with vitamin K2 administration. These results suggest that vitamin K is related to cortical bone width, and that nutritional intervention with vitamin K may be effective in dental implant treatment.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
