Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The research in this report reveals the challenges of social participation in employment for Syrian refugees with disabilities living in urban areas: [lack of funds to continue activities], [poor awareness of disabilities among local residents], [difficult to evaluate people with disabilities] The research subjects were classified into four categories consisting of [low employment acceptance of people with disabilities].The research subjects were working as job coaches despite having disabilities. There were issues such as recognition of disability, evaluation by medical professionals, and restrictions on employment opportunities.Occupational therapists collaborated with local job coaches in international cooperation to evaluate people with disabilities and provide appropriate services. The necessity of collaboration was suggested for social coexistence.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
2011年から長期化するシリア紛争では多くの国内・国外避難民が流出し近隣諸国での生活を余儀なくされている。その中には紛争による難民障害者が含まれ、その機能低下や都市環境により社会参加の障壁になっている。本研究では、都市に居住する難民障害者の状況について明らかにし、課題分析を進めた。その中には障害者自身のエンパワーメントの低下や就労に向けた知識・技術の不足などが挙げられた。そこで難民障害者からジョブコーチを育成し、コミュニティーに居住する難民障害者のエンパワメントに寄与することにより、避難先コミュニティーで難民としての立場での生活だけでなく、社会的自立しコミュニティーの中での社会共生に繋げた。
