| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study is to question the image of the university and the academia in the age of digital natives, where the real and cyber worlds cross borders.
Results are as follows. Social media (SNS) has had a significant impact; as a result of the proliferation of SNS, rationality and truthfulness have lost their meaning, and an attention economy in which various things are valuated in terms of attention has spread. Universities and academia do not exist on their own, but are also related to global political trends: anti-immigrant political trends and social divisions are becoming more apparent after 2022, affecting universities and academia. As a result, critical views of university and academia have become more pronounced. These changes were unforeseen until a few years ago.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
SNSの浸透の結果、非リベラルな右派ポピュリスト政党の勢力拡大といった政治情勢が、政党レベル・国家レベルで高等教育に変容を迫りつつあることを示し、大学問題が世界各国の政治と深く関わっていること、ひいては高等教育研究の視野の拡大が必要であることを示した。
社会としても、大学の社会的意義や学問のあり方について慎重に「介入」、相互交流していく必要があることを示した。ただし、SNSの時代にはアテンションにより、評判が決まる面があるので、アテンション・エコノミーの特性について理解する必要がある。
