Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to investigate metabolic changes and function of sulfide compounds in skeletal muscle using animal models. We observed that exercise, muscle inactivity, and high-fat diet altered sulfur metabolism and supersulfide contents in skeletal muscle. In addition, administration of a supersulfide donor suppressed muscle atrophy and proteolytic signaling activity induced by inactivity. These results suggest the involvement of supersulfide in the maintenance and improvement of skeletal muscle function.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
