Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this research was to collect the books of the Taikoki prose works, which are biographical materials of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and to classify, organize, and systematize them, focusing on the relationship with those in power. In particular, this research will focus on the Taikoki, as well as the battles in which Hideyoshi was active, such as the battles of Komaki and Nagakute, and will focus on the Taikoki of the late modern period, such as the Ehon Taikoki and the Ehon Toyotomi Kunkouki. We also considered objects by including them in the study. Finally, I traced the development of Taikokimono in the early modern period, focusing on Taikokimono from the early modern period, and clarified how literature was transformed by social factors such as political power.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は従来歴史学的考証の視座からのみ構築されてきた〈太閤記物〉の基礎研究を文学的視座から捉え直し、初めて体系化しようとする点に学術的意義がある。豊臣秀吉は大河ドラマでも頻繁に取り上げられるなど、社会的に関心の高いテーマであるが、本研究は秀吉のイメージが定着・展開した近世期の太閤記物を改めて総合的に整理・分析するものであり、社会的訴求力が高いものと考える。
