Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to develop educational materials for multicultural education, put the developed materials into practice, verify the effectiveness of the materials development, and based on the verification, reconstruct the developed materials. The importance of developing educational materials for multicultural education rooted in the community from Japanese immigrants and people of Japanese descent, and the need to develop educational materials that enable students to be interested in the future of the community, to actively participate in the community, and to consider the future from the perspective of respect for diversity and social justice, became clear. The study also revealed that there is a need to develop educational materials that enable students to be interested in the future of their communities, to actively participate in their communities, and to consider issues from the perspective of respect for diversity and social justice.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究では、①多文化教育の教材開発及び授業実践に関する資料収集、②フィールド調査、③教材開発、④教材実践を中心に行った。 研究全体を通し、単に多様性や差異性を尊重するだけでなく、マジョリティが労なくして得た特権性について気づき、社会正義の実現をめざした、マジョリティである日本人生徒の意識の変容を促す多文化教育教材を開発し、教材実践を重ねながら、「多様性の尊重」と「社会正義の実現」の2つを視点としながら、生徒の意識の変容に迫る教材を再構築していくことの重要性が明らかとなった。
