Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this study is to clarify and demonstrate the significance of a comprehensive academic support system balancing the quantitative expansion of international students and the qualitative transformation of education at local private universities. The survey revealed that international student support initiatives fall into three categories: Proactive university-wide promotion type, Proactive local promotion type, and Negative local promotion type. Factors contributing to passive responses include differences in university management systems, city characteristics, varying levels of crisis awareness, and lack of faculty and staff collaboration. A comprehensive support system requires a leading department, multilingual support, cultural understanding, specialized support systems, and enhanced student programs. These measures enable balancing the quantitative expansion of international students with the qualitative transformation of education.

本研究の意義は、地方私立大学における留学生支援の取り組みを体系的に分類し、その成功要因と課題を明確化した点である。これにより、教育の質的向上と留学生の量的増加を両立させるための実践的指針を提供する。また、多文化共生社会の実現に向けた具体的な支援体制の構築を促進し、地方私立大学の国際化を推進することで、地域社会の活性化と国際競争力の向上に寄与する。さらに、少子化の進行に伴い留学生の受け入れを強化することにより、地方私立大学の経営基盤を安定させ、生存と発展に必要な学生数を確保する上で重要な手段となる。本研究は、他の大学や地域においても応用可能なモデルを提供し、広範な社会的影響を持つものである。
