Outline of Annual Research Achievements

This research is primarily conducted based on the UNICEF MICS dataset, followed by field research in Bangladesh. The secondary data analysis underscores that facilitating a supportive Home Learning Environment (HLE) is vital for child development through promoting effective caregiving interaction activities and age-appropriate learning and playing resources, particularly for preschoolers in low socioeconomic status (SES) households. Field research confirms varied HLE across SES in Bangladesh. Additionally, attending high-quality preschool enhances the quality of HLE. These findings inform the need for the government to design tailored guidelines for both home-based and school-based early childhood development programs to foster the development of preschoolers from diverse backgrounds.
