Outline of Final Research Achievements

Postprandial thermogenesis, or diet-induced thermogenesis, is important for maintaining health, but the exact brain mechanisms were not known. Using a Chemogenetic approach, our research showed that the postprandial hormone GLP-1, which is released from the intestine, triggers diet-induced thermogenesis through vasopressin neurons in the hypothalamus. This study explains a part of how the brain controls heat production after eating.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
