Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (CGRP) is a neuropeptide consisting of 37 amino acids produced by selective splicing of the calcitonin gene. Recently, many reports have suggested that CGRP plays important roles in immune cell regulation and bone metabolism. In this study, we used gene knockout mice of Ramp1, a specific component of the CGRP receptor, to analyze its effects on the destruction of periodontal tissue and the healing process. The resuls showed that alveolar bone recovery was delayed in Ramp1 gene-deficient mice compared to wild-type mice.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
