Outline of Final Research Achievements

The participants in this study were 5,982 adult ambulance users with minor diseases or injuries under the jurisdiction of the Higashihiroshima Fire Department in Hiroshima, Japan, from 2016 to 2020. They were categorized into subgroups (segments) by Probabilistic Latent Semantic Analysis (PLSA) using items such as age, sex, location of occurrence, type of accident, passenger, and urgency as judged by the ambulance crew. Next, emergency medical professionals were interviewed about the health, psychological, and social needs of each segment of adult ambulance users with minor diseases or illnesses. The results revealed that some of the identified segments had high psychological and social needs.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
