Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this study was to develop a screening index to comprehensively assess eating behavior for community-dwelling older adults and to determine the association of the developed screening index to physical frailty. A literature review, meetings with research collaborators, and brainstorming sessions were conducted to select evaluation items and a rating scale was developed to assess the comprehensive eating behavior in community-dwelling older adults. Participants were selected from adults enrolled in a population-based cohort study, we examined association between eating behavior score that developed in this study and physical frailty in community-dwelling older adults. Results, the assessment index developed in this study suggests that poor eating behavior is associated with physical frailty.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
