Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Based on our experience and literature review, Dr. Animesh Pal has successfully found three platelet-type hexagonal boron nitrides (h-BN) having superior thermal conductivity and high thermal stability. After that, he synthesized three consolidated samples from each type of 100% h-BN at pressure 5, 10, and 15 MPa to observe the thermal properties of pristine h-BN. Then several composites have prepared using activated carbon, thermal conductivity enhancer (h-BN), and binder at different pressures (5-15 MPa) and different composition ratios of constituent materials. Dr. Pal has investigated specific heat capacity, thermal conductivity, and SEM images of all developed samples. Porosity is also estimated from the measurement of N2 adsorption/desorption isotherm at 77K.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Dr. Animesh Pal is working according to the schedule of his proposed research proposal. He completed the composite adsorbent material synthesis at different composition ratios of constituents, which was the most time-consuming part of the proposal. Fundamental characterization such as specific heat capacity, porosity, SEM, and thermal conductivity of developed composites have also been accomplished. The adsorption/desorption isotherms and kinetics of both CO2 and ethanol onto the composites will be investigated in the current FY2023. Surface energy and theoretical studies will also be investigated in the current fiscal year.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Based on the thermo-physical properties of developed composite adsorbents, we have selected some potential composite adsorbents to study the feasibility of those composites for heat transformation applications. To do that we have a plan to measure of adsorption isotherms and adsorption kinetics of both CO2 and ethanol as a working fluid. Then the obtained data will be used to correlate with the theoretical model and obtained parameter values will be used to analyze the thermodynamic performance.
