Outline of Annual Research Achievements

1. We synthesized conducting piezoceramic oxides with controlled morphologies.
2. Structure and piezoelectric/ferroelectric characterizations were made and it was found conductivity makes high loss and reduces energy harvesting effect.
3. We characterized the electrical properties of the material by impedance spectroscopy studies and studied structure/property correlations in those conducting ferroelectrics.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

We were able to fabricate the materials and make comprehensive characterization as planned, but found conduction in the materials can cause large leakage loss and thus renders a poor energy harvesting effect.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

We plan to change the original plan from "conducting piezoelectric materials" into "highly piezoelectric materials" to overcome the above-mentioned issue.
