Outline of Annual Research Achievements

In this year, I have been working on Nambu-Goldstone (NG) Higgs grand unified theories (GUT) models. We studied supersymmetric (SUSY) SU(5) GUT model with a global SU(6) symmetry including SU(5) as a subgroup to explain Higgs as NG Higgs particles and to solve the doublet-triplet splitting problem. We used renormalization group equations to represent the GUT parameters by the SUSY parameters and calculated the proton decay with different soft-SUSY-breaking scenarios.
I am also doing another project about the calculation of proton decay using chiral perturbation theory. We are trying to use chiral perturbation theory to improve the results of proton decays for different channels. It could help to connect the experimental bounds to theoretical predictions to test GUT models.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

I studied the minimal Nambu-Goldstone Higgs SUSY SU(5) GUT model as planed. I am starting to consider some more complicated NG Higgs SUSY GUT model.
I didn’t finished the SU(5) and the flipped SU(5) GUT models with additional symmetries as I planed.
However, I also got some ideas of new projects. I am thinking about the SU(6) GUT model with extra-dimension, which can be related to global SU(6) symmetry GUT model in four-dimension.
Besides, I am currently doing the calculations of three-body proton decay using chiral perturbation theory.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

First, I will continue the calculation of three-body proton decay by chiral perturbation theory.
Besides, I will study the SU(6) gauge extra-dimension GUT model and its connections to global SU(6) GUT model. In the model, there is a SU(6) gauge symmetry in the 5 dimension bulk, and it is broken into the standard model symmetry on one of the brane. I will also consider the model with axion as a NG boson in a similar way.
On the other hand, to extend my research areas, I will study Z’ portal dark matter model and the capture by compact stars.
