| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
幾何学的群論について総合的に研究するのが目的である。そのために、国際研究集会を組織する。
今年度は、日本数学会第7回季期研究集会を他の主催者とともに主催した:The 7th MSJ-SI. Hyperbolic Geometry and Geometric Group Theory, University of Tokyo, July 30th - August 5th, 2014. そこで、国内外からトップクラスの講演者を招き、また、国内外から200名以上の参加者を得た。また、ＩＣＭのサテライト会議に指定された。講演者は以下である：Yair Nathan Minsky (Yale University), Narutaka Ozawa (Kyoto University) , Michah Sageev (Technion-Israel Institute of Technology), Karen Vogtmann (Cornell University), Mladen Bestvina (Utah), Brian Bowditch (Warwick), Martin Bridson (Oxford), Jeffrey Brock (Brown), Kenneth Bromberg (Utah), Danny Calegari (Chicago), David Gabai (Princeton) cancelled, Daniel Groves (UIC), Yoshikata Kida (Kyoto), Sang-hyun Kim (Seoul National University), Athanase Papadopoulos (Strasbourg), Piotr Przytycki (Warsaw).
今年度の主な研究実績として、Calegari氏との共同研究で、離散群の増大度に関する斉藤恭司氏の予想を解決した。また、Bestvina-Brombergとの共同研究で、projection complexについて顕著な進捗を得た。
本年度は研究協力者を1人雇用した。
