| Research Abstract |
研究実施計画に沿って、以下を中心に研究を推進した。
１．クラスターの溶媒和過程：昨年度に開始した金属クラスターの溶媒和過程に関する実験を継続した。特に、アルミニウムクラスター正イオンの水和過程において、水分子との反応による水素発生について、その活性化機構に衝突時の内部エネルギーが深く関与していることを見出し、反応の促進と抑制を制御できることを実証した。これらの成果をまとめて原著論文を発表した。さらに多数の水分子と少数の酸素分子とが関与して、アルミニウム酸化物を核とする水和物が安定な生成物として生成されることを突き止めた。
２．気相クラスターの液相注入実験装置の製作：昨年度に設計した新たな真空実験装置についてその製作を進め、金属クラスターイオン源、質量選別計、溶媒分子クラスター源を組み上げた。さらに、クラスターイオン源の調整を迅速に行うために、従来の四重極質量分析計と相補的な、飛行時間型質量分析計を製作した。動作試験の結果、質量スペクトルの高速測定が可能となり、その有用性を確認した。
３．液滴の真空への導入と赤外光による蒸発実験：昨年度に直径約50ミクロンの水滴を大気中で生成したことに引き続き、本年度は、これを0.01気圧程度の真空中に生成することに成功した。真空中で発生した金属クラスターを、真空環境を保ったまま液滴に注入する新しい実験技術の開発に向けて、大きく前進した。さらに、液滴発生ノズルに印加する電圧パルス波形を調節して、液滴の大きさを50～100ミクロンの範囲で制御できるようになった。赤外光照射については、液滴をトラップするなどして、比較的弱い強度で長い照射時間で溶媒を徐々に蒸発させる方針で進めることが適切と確認した。

最大の難関と考えていた真空中への液滴導入が、まだ予備段階ではあるが成功した。イオンビームと液滴とを組み合わせた真空中での今後の実験に向けて、大きく進展したと言える。

当初の計画に沿って、液相溶媒となる液滴に金属クラスターを注入・溶解する実験を進める。これらの実験に基づいて、金属クラスターの液相中の反応ダイナミクスの解明と物質合成を進めてゆく。
