Research Abstract |
It is said that laughter and smiling have a good effect on human health in late years. In this study, we construct a method for the objective and quantitative measurement of human laughter by electromyography (EMG) of the muscles of the abdomen in order to analyze the laughter's effects on the human body. We examine the relationship between the amount of laughter and the change in the concentration of cortisol in saliva. Although no significant correlation between them has been found in this study, we show an analytical model for investigating quantitatively the relationship between the laughter and human health.
