Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research project lies in the formation of Merovingian State from a renewed point of view of the historical phase of transition from the Late Antiquity embodied in the West Roman Empire, to the Early Medieval State formations. It raised vast problem of how developed the Frankish tribes in Roman political circumstance, after the fail of coup d'etat mounted by Frankish magister milititum Arbogast in 394 until an appearance of Childebert 1st in the year around 456 on historical written sources . Compering to a huge success that had enjoyed this German tribes during more than a generation in the Roman military hierarchy, it is very impressive that we only have scant and sporadic references on the Frankish tribes in historical document thereafter. As almost of all the German tribes, except the Visigoths, were under the hegemony of the Huns during former half of the 5th century, we should look at this aspect.
