Outline of Annual Research Achievements

コンパクト・リー群 G と、その四元数体上の表現 M が与えられたとき、物理学者は3 次元のN = 4 超対称性ゲージ理論とよばれる場の量子論を考え、特にそのゲージ理論のクーロン枝とよばれる、超ケーラー多様体を研究していた。しかし、その定義には、「量子補正」とよばれる数学的に厳密な取り扱いがなされていない手続きが含まれており、クーロン枝の数学的な定義は与えられていなかった。そこで、数学的に厳密な定義を与える試みを始めた。特に M が N + N^* という形で与えられている場合に、ある無限次元のモジュライ空間を導入し、その同変ホモロジー群に合成積によって可換環の構造を導入し、そのスペクトラムとして、クーロン枝をアファイン多様体として定義する方法を提案した。多くの例で、物理学者が計算していたものと一致することを検証でき、この定義は正しいと確信している。
