Research Abstract |
We applied inhibitory repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) to right-hemisphere Broca's homologue daily, for 10 days in chronic aphasia patients. Although improvement of aphasia was admitted in a descriptive observation, standard language test showed no significant improvement after rTMS treatments, Laterality index, which obtained by near-infrared spectroscopic mapping, revealed most patients demonstrate right dominance brain activation during picture naming task. Then, change in laterality index before and after rTMS treatments did not show uniform trend.
