| Research Abstract |
3年計画の2年目にあたる本研究事業では、運動不足者（身体不活動者）や運動無関心者に対する研究を以下のように進めてきた。
研究代表者の山津は、昨年度までにベースラインデータを構築した大学生集団約1000名の追跡調査を実施した。その約半数にあたる559名に対する追跡調査を解析した結果、男子大学生ではベースライン時の高強度身体活動量が多い者ほど半年後のメンタルヘルス不良者が少ないこと、また、同じく男子大学生でベースライン時の運動自己効力感が高い者ほどメンタルヘルス不良者が少ないこととの結果が認められ、査読付の学術論文に掲載されるなどの成果をあげることができた。以上のことから、運動不足（身体不活動者）や運動に対する効力感の欠如が将来のメンタルヘルス不良の予測因子となりうることを明らかにした。
次に、分担研究者の熊谷らも、地域在住高齢者と中年勤労者の２つのコホートの追跡調査を着実に実行することができた。そのコホートからの解析結果をもとに、地域在住の中高齢者の握力レベルと総死亡や数種の死因別死亡が統計学的に有意に関連することを見出した。また、地域在住高齢者コホートの解析結果から、認知症の予備軍と考えられている軽度認知障害を有する者は比較的多く存在するが、身体活動量や身体不活動量の高低と認知機能のレベルには統計学的な関連性が認められないという知見を明らかにした。
以上のように、申請時に掲げた研究目的に対し、大学生、中年勤労者、地域在住高齢者の追跡調査を着実に実施し、最終年度に更なる研究知見を生み出す研究環境を整備できたと考えている。

申請時に計画していた研究課題が、ほぼ想定通り順調に進んでいると認識している。大学生、中年勤労者、地域在住高齢者のベースラインのデータセットが分析可能なレベルまで完成度を高め、今年度に入り回収した追跡調査も着々とデータベース化がほぼ完成している。一部の解析可能なデータセットを用いて得られた解析結果も随時学会発表しし、関連する研究者とのディスカッションを深めるなど、運動不足と健康事象に関連する知見は順調に出すことができている。また、本研究に関連した招待講演の業績もえており、本研究への関心も小さくないとの実感を得ている。

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
３つのコホートの追跡調査は順調に進んでおり、追跡調査とデータベースの構築は現在の体制で進めるべきだと考えている。今後は３つのコホートで解析可能な健康事象に対し解析を進め、国内外の査読付き学術雑誌への投稿を増やしていくことに重点を置きたいと考えている。特に、運動無関心者に対する知見の公表が十分ではないため、運動無関心者に対する解析を進め、その方面の研究業績を積極的に公表していきたい。

| Expenditure Plans for the Next FY Research Funding |
次年度が最終年度となるので、これまでの研究成果や今後の解析結果を積極的に国際学会や国内外の査読付き学術雑誌に公表していく必要がある。そのため、最終年度は国内外の学会発表のための費用、また論文投稿に要する研究費の支出が中止となると想定している。
