Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study is the reassessment of traditional coating and painting materials in building cultural properties and research on the prevention of their deterioration. The purpose of this study is to establish methods for the restoration,preservation and utilization of such building cultural properties. These methods were field survey of traditional painting materials in architectural monuments and scientific analyses.The results were use to the restoration and repainted methods at the Nikko Toshogu shrine Youmeimon gate, Byodoin Ho-o-do and Ono family house etc.
