Research Abstract |
Louis MacNeice had been politically more or less neutral before he went to Barcellona during Spanish Civil War where he experienced the bombardment. His conscience was shaken and he changed his attitude towards the ideology and international politics and determined to show his solidarity with Spanish citizens. But he showed it not in a propagandistic way but in terms of his rhyming scheme in his long poem 'Autumn Journal'. We analysed how he changed systematically the rhyming pattern. In case of W.H. Auden after he went to Spain, he went to China during Sino-Japanese War. He wrote a classical style of sonnets. We occlude he used the formal rhyming structure most probably to create a kind of order within his mind.
