Outline of Final Research Achievements |
During the mid-18th to early 19th centuries, not only samurai families, but various individuals and groups began showing their reverence for their ancestors in a concrete fashion. In this study, I considered a characteristic of the ancestor of a lord divinization of the Meiji-Ishiin period as an example in the Satuma and the Choshu clan. As a result, it was revealed that the apotheosis of the ancestor of a lord in the Meiji Restoration period went in form against the menace to Europe civilization and Christian. I pointed out what a viewpoint to look around the whole religion policy of the Meiji government including separation process of Shinto and Buddhism and the war dead mourning courtesy was related to there.
