Research Abstract |
The failure of piles due to impact up-down earthquake motions is a pressing subje-ct which cannot be overlooked. In an investigation after the 1995 Kobe Earthquake, shear and tension fail-ures have been revealed. However, obscure points still remain in terms of the mechanical behavior of such impact failures. From such a viewpoint, model tests were conducted in this study on the mechanical behavior of piles due to impact up-down earthquake motions. As a result, the mechanical behavior brought about by the impact failure of piles is presented.
