Research Abstract |
With taking hypereutectic Al-Si alloys as light weight wear-resistant materials, the creation of hetero-structure is examined to be consistent with strength and ductility.Semisolid slurry was prepared by sono-solidification with irradiated ultrasound on molten metal during the solidification. Shaping was then performed by rheocasting with the sono-solidified slurry. The hetero-structure composed of soft (alpha)-Al and hard primary Si particles is created by rheocasting with sono-solidified slurry, which exhibits high strength/wear resistivity and ductility.
