Research Abstract |
We found that intestinal epithelial cells recognized a pectic polysaccharide through the fibronectin located around tight junctions and altered sulfated structure of heparan sulfate on the cell surface through integrin. These findings show that functions of dietary fiber are not only exerted by physicochemical properties or enterobacteria.
