Research Abstract |
Bone formation of Mesenchymal stromal cells(MSCs) derived from a surplus of maxillary bone fragments, in primary cleft lip / palate operation, was confirmed in vivo. When cultured with serum-free medium, maxilla-derived MSCs exhibited osteogenic potential in both in vitro and in vivo. With bone tissue-derived MSCs cryopreserved more than 10 years, in the safety assessment, no abnormality was found in G-band patterns as a morphologic investigation and in myc or p53 analysis. Moreover osteogenic potential and multipotency were maintained. Cryopreserved bone tissue-derived MSCs may be clinically useful.
