Research Abstract |
A computerized system for analysis of muscles and Achilles tendon kinetics using sequential radiographs taken with a dynamic flat-panel detector has been developed. Dynamic imaging and analysis of the Achilles tendon can allow assessment of the kinetic information of the foot-ankle system, including joints and bones as well as muscles and tendons, with morphological measurement of the Kager's triangle. With respect to evaluation of the crural muscle, dynamic imaging and analysis can be potentially useful in the differential diagnosis of an injured triceps surae muscle. The developed functional radiographic imaging technique for lower extremities is a promising method for kinetic evaluation of soft tissues and bones of the foot-ankle system in a subject's natural range of motion.
