Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to develop the new kanoe ergometer which can control the workload (power and intensity) precisely with using the feedback control system. We developed the workload system using the electro-magnetic brake and the controller, and feedback control program on Windows PC. The system can control the way of the load in each stroke, such as the constant load, variable load with the stroke speed, etc.We compared the feelings of the exercise between the new system and commercially available ergometer in competitive college kayakers. It was found that no difference in the feelings was detected between them. However, the new system has more range of the work load and load resolution than the commercially available ergometer and the way of the workload in each stroke can be changed with the Basic program language on Window PC.
