液滴ジェットプラズマによる熱脆弱フラーレン配列制御への挑戦

Research Abstract

量子コンピュータ素子として注目を集めている窒素原子内包フラーレン(N@C60)のナノメートルオーダーの配列制御を実現することを目的として,初年度は,N@C60をカーボンナノチューブ(CNT)に内包させる手法として,液滴ジェットプラズマ装置を製作し,その動作を詳細に調べた.1. 直径6mmのガラス管に低周波高電圧電源(~10kHz, < 20 kV)を接続し,窒素ガスを動作ガスとしたプラズマジェット装置を作製した.さらに,そのガラス管の途中に液体を霧状に噴霧できるネブライザーを接続し,プラズマジェット中に液滴を導入できるように改良し,エタノール及びトルエンで動作することを実証した.2. トルエン中に,まずは空のフラーレンC60を導入し,液滴ジェットプラズマとして,電気的に浮遊状態の基板へ照射することによって,基板にフラーレンが堆積することが明らかになった.また,堆積したフラーレンをレーザー脱離飛行時間型質量分析器で解析することで,フラーレンが破壊されずに堆積していることが明らかになった.3. 液滴ジェットプラズマ中の紫外線や熱によりN@C60が破壊されるかどうかを,紫外線ランプ照射により調べた結果,1時間以上の長時間の紫外線照射によりN@C60が次第に破壊されていくことが明らかになったが,液滴ジェットプラズマで照射する程度の時間(数秒以内)においては,紫外線の影響がないことを確認した.

Reason

当初の計画通りに,液滴ジェットプラズマ装置を作製し,その動作を確認できている.また,窒素内包フラーレンのプラズマに対する安定性についても調べており,次年度の研究遂行の準備が整っている.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

今後は,窒素内包フラーレンをトルエン中に溶解させ,液滴ジェットプラズマとして基板に照射し,窒素内包フラーレンがプラズマの熱および紫外線によって破壊されずに堆積することを実証する.さらに,基板にカーボンナノチューブを塗布し,カーボンナノチューブ内部に窒素内包フラーレンを挿入する実験を行う. また,カーボンナノチューブ内でのフラーレン間隔を制御するため,DNAを用いたフラーレン複合物質を形成し,それをカーボンナノチューブに挿入する実験を行う.

次年度使用額は,今年度の研究を効率的に推進したことに伴い発生した未使用額であり,平成24年度請求額とあわせ,次年度に計画している研究の遂行に使用する予定である.なお,未使用額には,今年度の3月までに納品したが,4月に支払われる物品の金額も含まれている.
