Research Abstract |
Glycan-processing related to glycoprotein quality control in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) seems to be changed by various factors depend on the cellular status, diseases and property of glycoproteins. In this study, synthetic glycan substrates were treated with ER fractions extracted from various animal organ. The resulting glycan-processing profiles were compared each other to understand correlation between disease and glycan processing change. The results show that obesity, diabetes and osteoporosis rat/mouse provide disease-specific glycan profile. Moreover, glycan-processing status were found to be influenced from in vivo macromolecular crowding conditions and property of substrate glycoproteins.
