Research Abstract |
Cancer stem cells are thought to be responsible for both metastasis and cancer recurrence. We utilized FACS sorting to isolate cancer stem cells (CSCs) and non-cancer stem cells from xenograft human colon tumors to analyze gene expression. RNA-seq analysis revealed that 374 genes were significantly up-regulated in CSCs. Furthermore, we found that knockdown of any of 13 genes resulted in decreased growth ofCSCs. Hereafter, we will investigate the importance of these genes in CSC behavior.
