Research Abstract |
In this study, we investigated brain activity involved in monitoring of response speed during continuous cognitive task, in which subjects were instructed to respond as fast and correct as possible. First, increase in theta-band EEG power (4~7Hz) was observed in slower responded trials. Second, it was shown that the theta-band power was modulated by the task performance not only in the ongoing trials but also in the previous trials. In addition, it was suggested that the theta-band EEG power might also be affected by motivation in solving trials as fast as possible.
