Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this research project is to critically examine the genealogy of aesthetic theory of media since Marshall McLuhan, and to propose a new theorization with "postmedia" as its key concept, in order to respond to the media environment today. For this purpose, I have pursued theoretical reading of preceding media theory, while attending international conferences of media studies and international media art festivals to share my view and gather materials. Especially, my involvement in the argument about the media situations after the Tohoku earthquake helped me elaborating the idea of "postmedia" as a grounded theory for concrete situations.
