Research Abstract |
Grammatical changes taking place in new dialects in Kyushu have been revealed by a study of the history of the Japanese language. When grammatical changes take place, regularities can be observed. This research focuses on Toritateshi (focus particle) and on the regularities which can be observed when grammatical changes take place. The study was conducted from the points of view of the field demonstrations on new dialects and the theoretical investigations on grammatical changes in Japanese language as a whole. This research also reveals the relationship between studies on the history of Japanese language grammar and studies on the grammars of Japanese dialects.
