Research Abstract |
Neural correlates of confident novelty judgments were examined using functional MRI. In the face recognition study, confident novelty processing associated with faster responses in the right amygdala and midbrain periaqueductal gray were revealed compared to unsure novelty responses. A subcortical innate alarm system might be associated with novelty signals.
