Research Abstract |
Mercury has a thin atmosphere. The most probable primary source process is solar windproton impact. CMEs toward Mercury probably cause the increase of the sodium density. We observed Mercury’s sodium exosphere when MESSENGER observed variation of solar wind magnetic field, which indicated CMEs arrived at Mercury. Despite this, our results havenot shown large variation of the sodium density.
